More on Reiki...
Technically, Reiki is a Japanese word meaning “spiritual energy"; the "Ki" in the word is the same as the Chinese word Chi or Qi meaning “Universal Energy”. As an energy-based healing modality, the focus of Reiki is on healing the body, mind and spirit by reducing stress and achieving relaxation. Modern Reiki techniques and the Reiki System practiced today were developed in Japan in the late 1800's and early 1900's by Usui Mikao and brought to Western countries after World War Two. The woman who brought Riki to the US had to make many changes to the practice to make it more acceptable to Americans. Many Reiki Practitioners today still practice this alternate system. I choose to follow the system that Mikao Usui himself taught. My Teacher Joyce Leonard has an amazing Teacher, Franz Stein of International House of Reiki. Franz has written multiple books that I highly recommend to anyone interested in Reiki. He has dedicated his life understanding Mikso Usui’s Practice and all of the hidden meanings of the system of Reiki.
Most people who have heard of Reiki have heard of the hands on healing aspect of it. The System is composed of Five Elements aspects that allow the Reiki Practitioner to become deeper connected to the Reiki Energy. As the Practitioner becomes more and more in touch with the Reiki energy, they thereby gain the ability to share that energy with other humans, animals and plants. Also, as one practices the 5 Elements of Reiki and becomes more connected with the Reiki energy, they can begin to live a life with less stress, anger and fear and more balance, peace and joy.
What people experience when receiving Reiki Energy can vary widely. Just trust that Reiki always give us exactly what we need and just the right amount of it. Just hold the intent to receive whatever you need and trust what you are receiving is perfect for you. Reiki energy is only pure and good and can not harm.
