Back Pain

General Back Pain
Mind-body connection:
The spine holds our entire body upright.  When we evolved from walking on all fours our arms stopped supporting us and our spine and hips began to hold all of our physical weight. Our upright spine defines us as humans and gives us dignity, strength and support. This area is also where we will feel lack of dignity, strength and support.  Our spines also carries our central blood supply and central nervous system, so all of our emotional burdens, worries, responsibilities and judgments are also found here. And since the back of our body represents our pasts, and things we have “turned our backs on”, when current situations are mirroring those from our past, our backs will be the first place we experience pain.

Common emotions associated with back pain:
Feeling unsupported
Carrying too much responsibility
Can't cope with emotional difficulties/weight
Feeling a lack of emotional support and/or personal strength
Resentment towards self and others
Judgement towards self and others
